Titan FC 59 results – Graves vs. Villefort for welterweight title

Titan Fighting Championship will hold Titan FC 59 from Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, February 28.  In the main event, Titan FC welterweight champion Michael Graves (8-1-2) looked to successfully defend his title for the first time when he meets fellow former UFC competitor Yuri Villefort (12-7) in the night’s main event.

What a fight we have here as both competitors are finding moments of success.  Going into round three it is a back and forth brawl and is anybody’s game.  Graves starts to gain some more momentum and is able to get a mount position and begin to throw down punches.  None of them were extremely powerful, but the referee had seen enough unanswered shots from Villefort to call it a night.  Graves retains his title.

Friday night’s event will be broadcast exclusively on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 8 pm ET.  American Top Team coach Mike Brown joined Jimmy Smith in the broadcast booth.

In the night’s co-main event slot, the man who may get the crowd’s biggest pop, the highly popular, Florida’s own, Roman Faraldo takes on Gerrick Bontekoe.  Faraldo using heavy power to open up his open with strikes and finishing the fight in the first round.

Also, one of the top prospect in the sport, the undefeated wrestling standout Max Rohskopf met Paulo Silva Bello.  WOW!!! This kid is off to an incredible start.  It took less than a minute for Rohskopf to get the fight to the ground and put Silva out with a choke.

Heavyweights Said Sowma and Jermayne Barnes will collide in a bout that likely will not go the distance. And…. I was wrong, this fight does go the full 15-minutes with Sowma earning the judges’ nod on all scorecards.

Also, flyweights Desmond Moore and Cleveland McLean look to climb in the rankings as they meet at 125-pounds. More on what happened in that fight below.

The opening bout on the main card was a rematch between Charlie Decca and John Marquez.  These two men fought at the amateur level with Marquez coming out on top.  Tonight, a stiff jab by Decca quickly dropped Marquez, followed by a head kick once back on the feet.  Marquez has an extremely unorthodox style on the feet.  Decca gets a takedown, and flattens his back against the mat.  Decca remains in control from the top position where the round ends.  In the second frame, Decca using wrestling to control the fight, but Marquez doing damage with knees in the clinch.  Going into the third and final round this fight could go to either fighter.  Decca gets a takedown and is seemingly in control here in the final minutes of the fight.  Marquez can’t do much from the bottom, Decca staying active, but the referee stands them up with 20 seconds left in the fight.  Decca takes Marquez right back down and wins a decision.

Cleveland McLean made a statement tonight on UFC Fight Pass with a first round knockout of Desmond Moore.  A right hand, followed by a big knee at just 59 seconds in to the fight.
