UFC Is Returning To Miami For The First Time In 20 Years For UFC 287

Miami is headlining a UFC card for the first time in 20 years.

On Saturday morning, Dana White announced that the UFC 287 card featuring Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira and Jorge Masvidal vs. Gilbert Burns will be hosted at the Miami-Dade arena on April 8th.

The last UFC event to take place in Miami was in April 2003, when Matt Hughes defended his 170-pound title against Sean Sherk.

Since then Miami has become a hub for MMA talent and has also hosted some of the biggest sporting events in the World including F1 and the Super Bowl.

UFC 287 is headlined by a middleweight championship rematch between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya. Also on the card is Miami native Jorge Masvidal who is set to face off against Brazilian Gilbert Burns.

Other bouts scheduled for UFC 287 include Kevin Holland vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio at welterweight; Rob Fant vs. Adrian Yanez, Michael Chiesa vs. Jingliang Li and Kelvin Gastelum vs. Chris Curtis at middleweight.
