Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva vs. Tyrone Spong set to headline Eagle FC 44 in Miami

Antonio Silva has his next fight.

A former UFC heavyweight title challenger, “Bigfoot” Silva (19-13) will return to action on Jan. 28 at Eagle FC 44 in Miami, opposite notable kickboxer and undefeated MMA fighter Tyrone Spong (2-0). The bout will headline the event.

MMA Junkie recently confirmed the booking with a promotion official following an initial report by ESPN.

Silva, 42, has struggled to find wins since his UFC release in 2016 and has lost nine of his most recent 11 fights. Though he’s continued to fight notable names from around the world, Silva has been defeated in all three of his post-UFC outings, which came against Vitaly Minakov, Ivan Shtyrkov, and Quentin Domingos.

Meanwhile, Spong, who built his name as a championship kickboxer, has not competed in MMA since WSOF 4 in 2013. Predominantly, Spong has recently competed in boxing, where he’s compiled a 14-0 record as a professional.

Eagle FC will be new to American soil but is nearing 50 events. The promotion predominantly held events in Russia. Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov serving as the promotion’s frontman, with Dominance MMA’s Rizvan Magomedov as the official CEO.

With the addition, the Eagle FC lineup includes:
