Kimbo Slice Life Story to be made into a movie

Anthony D’Alessandro reports for Deadline reports that Kimbo, a Kevin ‘Kimbo Slice’ Ferguson’ biopic is in the works. Rising from the streets of Miami, the Bahamian-America became one of the early stars of social media, after his bareknuckle bouts went viral, before viral was even a thing. He then enjoyed a lucrative career in both MMA and boxing, under the guidance of adult film magnate ‘Icey’ Mike Imber. Slice died at 42 from heart failure, after years of battling high blood pressure.

He fought Dhafir ‘Dada 5000’ Harris at Bellator 149 in Houston just months before his death, and did not appear well. At the time of his passing, he was scheduled to fight James Thompson in the main event of Bellator 158.

The film will be produced by Steve Lee Jones and brothers Andy and Michael Weiss, throughBee Holder Productions and WeBros Entertainment respectively. Simon Brand (Default, Paraiso Travel) will direct, with a script by Andy Weiss (Middle Men, White Boy Rick).

“Those who only knew Kimbo by viewing his brawls saw him as fierce and frightening beast of a man, but those close to him experienced his heart of gold, and that he used his fists and instruments to raise his family out of poverty, he was a loyal friend and devoted father”, said Brand. “Kimbo’s story transcends the ring, it is a story about the power of the internet, the lengths one will go to break out of desperation, and it is a success story shared with his longtime friend turned manager and adult entertainment magnate Michael Imber as they both emerge from the slums of Miami.”

Camila Castro of Bee Holder, Michael Imber, Eric Weider, Scott Barlow and Rick Dukhovny will be executive producers.
